Reverse Logistics

Problem:

What do you do when you have thousands of customers who need to be contacted for a required, documented recall as a result of a settlement with the federal government? A customer facing this problem came to Salem Logistics Traffic Services based upon a recommendation from another customer to seek help. 

Solution:

During a product recall, the challenging process needs to be carefully documented. A Salem Logistics Traffic Services team met with the customer, listened to the problem, designed a solution and executed it quickly. The team was able to coordinate and implement each of the following steps: all of the various shippers involved were contacted (some with shipment knowledge and some without), special shipping containers were sent to the recall customers who were returning specific types of product, shipping labels were printed and sent to the appropriate parties, a central approval process was established so that the correct products were returned, and a web solution was created – all in a short period of time. The process required systems, trucks, warehousing and a creative, can do attitude – all tailored to the specific requirements of the project. 

Results:

100% of the outstanding product was returned in the time frame allotted. The process was accurately documented and completed ahead of schedule.
